Trademark Nice Classes
How Are Trademark Classes Determined?
Trademark classes are set under the Nice Agreement and defined by the type of goods or services.
Trademark registration classes cover 45 categories:
- The first 34 classes (1 to 34) cover manufactured or traded goods.
- Classes 35 to 45 represent the services offered.
When setting the trademark class, the steps are:
- Identifying the activities: The services and products the business offers now and in the future are identified.
- Reviewing the classes: The identified activities are matched to their counterparts in the Nice Classification.
- Professional consulting: Expert support where needed.
The right class selection keeps the mark legally protected and secures it against potential infringement.
