Industrial design registration is the set of procedures that provide legal protection for new designs with distinctive features. The registration gives the designer protection against unauthorized use and monopoly rights. Not every design can be registered, however. Designs contrary to public order or public morals, for example, are not registered. Likewise, designs without distinctive features or those that include mandatory technical elements are not registered.
