How Is a Trademark and Patent Search Done?

A trademark and patent search is a critical step when protecting your brand or creating a new trademark. The process follows specific stages along with the documents needed for trademark registration. The first step is visiting the official website of TÜRKPATENT (the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office, also known as TPMK). The search runs through TPMK with these steps:

  • Log In to the TPMK Website: Go to the official website turkpatent.gov.tr.
  • Reach the Trademark Search Page: Access the "Trademark Search" section on the TPMK website.
  • Enter the Trademark Information: In this section, you can run a detailed search by entering your trademark name or the registered trademark number.
  • Review the Search Results: After the search, review the results related to the trademark registration. The results show whether the trademark is registered, the application date, applicant details, and any opposition status. If your trademark name is not registered, you can decide to file for trademark registration. But while you are out in the open, meaning indirectly, checking for similar marks also matters. At this stage, getting support from experienced trademark agents is important.

You can get support from Sistem Patent's trademark agent for trademark and patent searches.
