How Is a TÜRKPATENT Trademark Search Done?

A TÜRKPATENT trademark search checks whether a name has already been registered.

1. Through the trademark search section on the official TÜRKPATENT website

Go to the TÜRKPATENT website (turkpatent.gov.tr).

Click the "Trademark Search" tab on the home page.

On the TÜRKPATENT trademark search screen, fill in:

• Trademark name: the name you want to search.
• Trademark class: if you want to see which classes the mark is registered in, enter the class number.
• Trademark type: you can search by type (wordmark, figurative, etc.).

The search results show whether the mark is registered, the application date, the applicant's details, and any opposition status.

For a pre-application similarity search, searching the exact name alone may not be enough. Similar marks also need to be checked. For example:

• Try it spaced and combined: MNP, MNP Bakim, MNP Bakim
• Pick the class by business activity. For example, 37 → Construction, renovation, repair; 35 → Advertising, retail

Reviewing the results gives you identical or similar marks, application status (registered, pending, refused), and owner information.
