Trademark Registration Fee

What Happens After the Trademark Registration Fee Is Paid?

After you pay the trademark registration fee, the application process begins. During registration, these steps happen:

  • Application Review: TÜRKPATENT (the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office) assesses the mark's originality, novelty, and similarity to existing marks.
  • Trademark Publication: The application is published for 2 months, and during that time others can oppose the mark.
  • Registration: Without opposition, the mark is registered and made available to the owner. With opposition, the process can stretch up to 20 months.
  • Legal Protection: After registration, the owner should monitor and protect the mark. Registration is valid for 10 years, and during that time the owner holds rights to assign, license, or otherwise use the mark.

Without payment of the trademark registration certificate fee, the registration does not complete and the application is refused. With the application number, you can track the process in the "Trademark Search and File Tracking" section on the TÜRKPATENT website. If you filed through Sistem Patent, our trademark specialists keep you posted on every development during the registration process. Our specialists manage the full process correctly on your behalf.
