Trademark Registration Certificate
What Is a Trademark Registration Certificate?
A trademark registration certificate is an official document that proves a mark is legally registered and outlines the rights granted to its owner. It gives the trademark owner the right to use the mark for a specific period. The owner also gains legal rights to protect the mark against unauthorized use by others.

Content of a Trademark Registration Certificate
- A trademark registration certificate typically includes:
- A visual of the registered mark (logo/name)
- Owner information: who owns the mark,
- Protected goods/services classes (Nice classes): the types of products or services the mark covers,
- Registration dates: how long the mark is protected.
In Turkey, the trademark registration certificate is issued by the relevant authority, TÜRKPATENT (the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office). After the protection period expires, the certificate can be renewed. The certificate shows the mark is legally protected.
- A mark consisting of a name, logo, slogan, or distinctive sign can no longer be used without permission by others.
- It grants the owner exclusive use rights. No one else can use the same mark, or one confusingly similar, in the same sector.
- Trademark protection is valid for 10 years. The certificate provides protection for 10 years from the date of issue and can be renewed upon expiry.
- It serves as evidence in court: a registered trademark is the strongest proof in legal disputes.
- It builds commercial trust and prestige. It allows companies to use the "®" symbol on their websites, packaging, and advertisements.
