Who Can Be a Trademark Agent?
Requirements to become a trademark agent in Turkey
1. Be a citizen of the Republic of Turkey
Foreign nationals cannot become trademark agents; foreigners can only file applications through an agent.
2. Hold at least a bachelor's degree
You can be a graduate of any field: law, engineering, business, or any other undergraduate program is valid.
3. Have no legal impediment in the criminal record
You must not have been convicted of disgraceful crimes such as fraud, forgery, bribery, or smuggling.
4. Pass the trademark agent exam of the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office
The exam must be passed successfully; trademark and patent agent exams are held separately.
5. Complete the internship
A candidate who passes the exam completes an internship under an agent registered in the TÜRKPATENT registry. The internship for trademark agency is typically 1 year.
6. Register with the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office Registry
After the internship is completed, the official title of trademark agent is acquired and the person is registered in the official registry.

- Non-citizens of Turkey
- Those convicted of disgraceful crimes
- Individuals dismissed from public office
- Those who have received disciplinary penalties incompatible with agency
