Trademark Registration Certificate

Who Can Get a Trademark Registration Certificate?

1. Individuals

  • Individuals residing in Turkey can apply for trademark registration under their own name or for their commercial activities.
  • The applicant and document holder is the individual named in the application.

2. Legal Entities / Companies

  • Companies such as limited liability companies or joint-stock companies can apply for registration under their company title or for their product/brand names.
  • The trademark registration certificate belongs to the company and is received by company officials.

3. Foreign Individuals or Companies

  • Individuals or companies based outside Turkey can also obtain trademark registration in Turkey by applying to TÜRKPATENT.
  • In this case, the applicant appears on the document as the foreign individual/company.

4. State and public institutions

  • Public institutions, municipalities, and organizations serving the public can also register trademarks.

5. Collective marks

  • Trademark registration applications made by multiple individuals or legal entities are also possible.

6. Authorized Agents

  • The applicant can also apply through an attorney or a trademark and patent attorney firm like Sistem Patent.
  • In this case, the registration certificate officially belongs to the applicant. The trademark agent receives the certificate on behalf of the applicant, not for themselves.

The trademark registration certificate can be received by the person or institution that is the official owner of the mark. Agents or consultants only handle the procedures; they are not the certificate holders.
