Who Can Register a Trademark?
The following parties can apply for trademark registration:
- Natural persons (individuals): An entrepreneur or freelancer can register their own name or a chosen brand name.
- Legal entities (companies, associations, cooperatives, etc.): Businesses can legally protect their brands by registering a trademark when introducing their services or products to the market.
- Foreign natural and legal persons: Foreign investors and companies operating in Turkey can apply for trademark registration.
- Collective marks: Trademark registration applications made by multiple individuals or legal entities are also possible.
- Consumer cooperatives and associations: These types of organizations can register their brands for the benefit of their members or community.
For trademark registration, the applied-for mark must be lawful, distinctive, and available for use.
