The documents required for a geographical indication registration application are:

• Name of the designation of origin or indication of source to be registered and the product name
• Description of the product: technical information and documents on its chemical, physical, microbiological, and similar traits
• Information and documents defining the geographical boundaries of the locality or region
• Detailed information on the supervision method
• Information explaining how the registered designation of origin or indication of source is used, including branding, marking, or labeling styles
• Proof of payment of the application fee

Outcome and registration: when the formal review is complete, the filing is published in the Official Gazette and the 6-month opposition window begins. If no opposition is filed, the application is finalized and entered in the geographical indication register. The registration fee has to be paid within 3 months of the finalization.
